Welcome to VV!

Vae Victus is an adult guild focussed on having fun while raiding. We have been around the block and find that hardcore progression guilds are too critical of their raiders and focus more on progression than fun. On the other hand, their members can find themselves bored with the game otuside of raiding. It becomes a job with the only "fix" being when they take a new boss down for the first time after numerous deathruns. On the other hand, there is the social guild where it's all fun all the time. Want help in leveling a new alt, you got it! Want to run some heroics for justice points.. No problem. Want to progress past the first 4 bosses in ICC? Better pug it .. Social guilds can only take you so far because the further you want to get, the more serious you need to be which kind of goes against social guilds charters. Most players that want to raid get bored in social guilds and look to move on.

That's where we come in. We work hard at maintaining a balance between a hardcore raiding guild and a social guild. We've got competative 10 man raids that have their sites on progession and work every week at getting closer. We also schedule other 10 man runs where we go as far as we can in a stress free enviornment grabbiing badges and farming gear along the way.

Good Bye Old VV... Hello new VV.
06/12/2011 01:42 PM by Grepvar

Folks,

It is time for me to move on. Not only as GM but possibly from the game. I have removed myself as GM and given the reigns back over to Mym. I've talked to the Officers about this decision and we envision VV changing into a casual guild without trying to be anything more.

I will be taking a few weeks away to decide whether or not to drop the game. Truth is I've lost my fire for the game and feel like I've lost my passion for trying to change the guild and succeed in raiding.

I want to thank everyone for the opportunity. I've really had fun and feel we did get to accomplish some great things over my time. I wish you all best in your lives whether they be real or virtual and have fun.

Team 2 Raid Info
03/21/2011 12:09 PM by Grepvar

So I've been talking to a lot of folks lately as we get bored of the Heroics and start look towards raiding about what's going to happen. I figure we've got two raid teams that will be kicking it into gear and I'd let folks know what to expect from the 2nd Team.

First, let me say that I never want to see us get so focussed on raiding that we stop having fun with the rest of the guild. That being said, the purpose of the second team is to kill shit. The thrill of the kill.. gear is secondary and still fun but your purpose is to kill everything that stands in your way. I want to create a team who's sole purpose is to give the rest of the guild the ability to brag about our progression.

How is this done? This is the hard part. Bottom line is to run with the second team, there's going to be some requirements.

1) Raid Awareness - Can you follow instructions, adapt to the fight, know where you need to be and what you need to be doing.

2) Attendance - Being able to know what skill sets we will have and be able to anticipate what each other is going to do is huge. Not everyone can make every night, that's not a problem, but overall we need you to attend the majority of the raids.

3) Preparation - More than just food and flasks. Watch the vids.. check out the strats... watch as the fights are going on and provide constructive feedback on wipes. Long as we do better the next time, wipes are ok.. if they aren't.. then people lose interest.

4) Internet connection - A good one is a must.. I know a lot of folks may not have control over it and it varies from night to night but again, looking at consistency, not the weird one offs.

5) Gear - Notice it's at the end.. yes, you need to have a 340 GS but that's just to make sure you don't get one shot or need more heals than we can allow the healers to give. It's also something that can change easily enough.

This style isn't for everyone and we will develop more raid teams that are a little more lax in their approach for more casual raiders, but if you're interested and are of the same mindset, you're more than welcome to join up.

Raiding
02/15/2011 07:15 AM by Grepvar

We are finally getting back into raiding shape.. almost like gaining too much weight during the winter and now we're losing it to prepare for the summer. :) More and more of us are gearing up, learning fights and downing dungeons.

What does that all mean? Means we're going to be hitting the raids full gear soon... exciting stuff for those who have been waiting for it.

Here's the breakdown:
10 man-raid team 1 Leaders - Keyleth and Furi
10 man-raid team 2 Leaders - Grep and Glanffrwd.
25 man-raid team Leaders - Keyleth and Grep

Team 1 has already rocked some of Blackwing Descent, killing the first boss. (Grats). Team 2 will be forming up and figuring out the core members so if you're interested, see Grep. And last but not least, there's a dirty rumor going around saying that 25 is easier than 10s. So it would be cool to prove or disprove that.

So... Look for raids and other stuff in the calendar. sign up and attend the events.. get some great gear, have fun and make VV a raiding guild as well as everything else. If you're not up to par with the gear, run some heroics or ask for help in the guild ..

VV has killed the LK !! Congrats!
11/05/2010 03:39 PM by Grepvar

VV has finally killed the LK as a guild. Last night Key and Furi's raid team finally downed the big guy after months of trying, providing hope for other teams to copy their success. This also leads to doing Heroic raids in the near future.

Congrats to the team!
